Jake,

I'll PM you for details, lets do this!

Looks like I'll have a project for Volkstock if I could book a slot? Smile

The early bird gets the worm (or the type 4). You've got slot #1. We can start when you get there Friday evening.

This engine was a trade in.. I don't know much about not at all.
Its cheap, but it might be better to let me find something that I know more about.

No, an engine that I didn't create doesn't come with a warranty.. I don't even give a warranty on engines that I do build from scratch. No unicorns or rainbows here on top of the hill.

Jake,

Thanks for the details. Based that we'll hold off and save for something we know more about.

Jon - better move Clyde and his MSD install to top of the list Smile

Thats a good choice. I have a 1911 be willing to let go of. It was a test engine from a few years back for a "Camper Special Lite" combination that I worked on for my engine kit program. I never did anything with it, because I cancelled the kit program.

This one would be more money, but it is "fresh" and performs great. Brent has the cousin to it in his green bay window and it has been perfect for 5 years. It climbs Mt. Eagle outside of Chattanooga at 70MPH in 95F heat without issue.

I could put the same DTM and exhaust on it if you want.. It could be ready before volkstock because it only needs to have the DTM and exhaust installed. I thought about putting this one in my 181, but its dying for a Suby :-)

I haven't been doing much at all-since the week before Clyde moved to his new house! (back problems)
It has been a tough year since last volkstock!
My Bug is the same as the last volkstock we put a clutch cable in it and i now have a little shimmy at the start off.
I have tried putting a washer or two on the cable end and to no success.
If there is time somewhere in that weekend to take a look at that it shouldnt take long with all the experts around.
Sorry about not making the meetings or other events this year but hopefully things will get better later this year !
later

I'd like some help adjusting my back brakes and my emergency brake on the bus. I may want to replace the emergency brake pads while we're in there Smile

I've got them in stock-lucky you (and me).

Anyone needing parts, please pre-order them with me. I'll just be bringing what you ask me to bring this year.
thanks in advance!

I've been chasing an overheating / cutting out issue for a while and, if there is space and time, I'd like to pull the engine to take a look.

My first thought is that it's getting too hot. I can't hold the dipstick after driving and the engine just seems hot. I'm also afraid that the PO didn't put any of the flaps back in the engine when he rebuilt it. By dropping the engine, I can be certain it's setup properly (with the assistance of people much more knowledge than myself).

I've had this bus for a couple of months, and it's getting to the point where I'm afraid to drive it anywhere we might get stopped by a red light. If anyone has any thoughts and/or suggestions on why the FI cuts out at idle when it's hot, there may be a reward (12 pack of your choice) involved. It will run all day at 65 MPH, but stop at a red light and you're in trouble. I'm thinking that it's not getting any cooling air at idle so it starts to falter.

I'm starting to think the AFM may be worn out. Here is my short list of what I'd like to do if there is time and space....

replace throw out bearing
replace push rod tube seals
replace oil cooler seals
replace hacked up tin
drill and tap new spot for temp sensor
grind down fin for new CHT sender to sit flush

I'll be happy to do the work. I just need someone to sit in a lawn chair nearby and tell me what to do next. Smile

Again, if there isn't time I understand. I don't want to keep other people from getting their stuff worked on.

I'd say that Greg and Pete should be the main Volkstock projects.

If we can get them in on Friday evening we can do the shorter term projects behind them.

Well you can probably take me off the list for work!
I was having some seats installed and the person welding them in
found all kind of rust and structural problems.
Maybe it will be done for Volkstock ! IDK yet !
I will still be there to lend a hand if not in the way !

Our fearless leader has once again claimed our "deluxe" RV accomodations for himself, Jon Jr, and Mike.

Pete, Mindy and "the crew" have reserved the 2 guest rooms in the house.

Clyde, Wilson and Steve will be camping out in the SWAMP being the BIG Gator fans that they are.

I am assuming that Mr Joe will be shacking out in the upstairs loft????

We have a blow-up mattress that sleeps pretty well if you are willing to sleep upstairs with Joe - Let us know. Embarassed

Did I mention the couch?

Anyone sleeping in a tent this year?????

PostPosted: Wed Jul 18, 2012 9:41 pm    Post subject: SLEDGE Projects Reply with quote

I plan to work on the growing list of electrical issues I am having with SLEDGE........(Outside the main garage of course!!)
1. No headlights
2. No turn signals
3. Change out some switches that I think I have new.
4. Battery draining - (Maybe I have an electrical issue?) - May install a power disconnect switch like in Inge's car (TWEETY)
5. Install 2 front mounted speakers.
6. Misc other tasks - (Install a used original glove box with hood release)
7. Cutting out my headliner - (Removing completely!!)
8. Replace front and rear window rubber.

Clyde - You got any front and rear window rubber? I will take those if you can bring them.

"May not get to all of this, but I do have lot's to keep me busy and out of Jon's hair!!"
