I'm now the owner of a 83 Rabbit GTI. I'm in the process workin out the mechanical issues. So far I have repaired the brakes, fuse box, Timing, dailed in the mixture, It has cis fuel injection. I repaired clutch and flywheel. Now its a driver but still needs some work. It needs front struts, paint job , door panels and a headliner. I will post pics soon. This cool car and I cant wait to get the other stuff done so I can drive the hell out of it. _________________ Shane Price

This some of the progress master bodyman Shane has made on the GTI. It has been wet sanded and buffed now. I'll get some more pics.
Get in line, Shane is looking for more body work and paint to do. _________________ 73 Typ481

After 692 tries, we got the windshield in. (I hope it stays) It is looking good. Grill is in, bumpers on, turn signals in, and badges on.
It will look really nice once the wheels are done and a good wash happens. _________________ 73 Typ481

The one that I want to sell is the other style...square grid blocks instead of the slats. |

I just want to say thanks for the help with getin this thing back on the road. Jon was a big help with body work, color sanding and installing windshield. Jon worked his ass off with me onthis thing. Im sure he cant wait for me to start another project. . Steve put in a few good hours on body work with us too. Adam put in some time too. Plus Adam helped me and Jon install the windshield. Which is a 3 man job anyway you do it So thanks for all the help from everyone on this thing. All I have left is pull the cluster and do some soldering on circuit board, set the front tow, aim headlights and clean it up . Hope to have it on the road tonight i cant wait to start drivin it daily. its gonna be awsome.... or sell it _________________ Shane Price

My '81 2 dr has the slat style grill. Pretty sure it is good and uncracked. Don't really want to get rid of it though, but let me think about it. Any idea what you would be willing to give? |

Probably not much demand for this in an aircooled club, but I'm pretty much an expert on cis fuel injection now. If anyone runs across a warm up reulator issue I can calibrate the hell out of em . I got all my fuel pressure and electronic issues straightened out on the gti. It runs perfect now. Hot or cold. Those regulators are around $300 reman and $600 new. But with a little patience you can disassemble and clean em then calibrate cold and hot control press. i,m almost totally done with this cream puff. Been driven it everyday for about a week now and lovin it. Its rewarding to save a cool car from certain death and put it back on the road. Its not exactly show quality but considering the shape it was in when I drug it home I'd say this turd polished up pretty good. Makes a great daily driver. _________________ Shane Price
